Need for Safety:

The safety of people in public transport is the utmost priority for the state government as every year, thousands of people die in road accidents, and many get severely injured. To provide security and safety solutions to the state government, Pyrotech has commissioned a 3600 sqft layout for a centralized traffic control room dedicated to regulating traffic and public transport. This workspace is designed to optimize the road transport facilities and provide a futuristic Command and Control Centre.

The Solution:

The focal point of the traffic control room is to ensure the punctuality of buses, passengers’ and operators’ safety, the satisfaction of travelers, and trustworthiness in safe travel. Buses are equipped with CCTV cameras. These IP-based CCTV cameras surveillance and feed the collected data to the control room where the received information is processed and made visible on huge screens so that every detail can be monitored, and relevant resolution can be carried out in time. Pyrotech has designed the control room as per the ergonomic requirements in such a way that the operators need not rotate their head/neck frequently to view any of the displayed data. The complete display solution falls within the “Cone of fixation” of the operator’s eyes. This helps the operator to sense the abnormalities in the system and take proactive actions to avoid any harmful situation or entropy that can cause major incidents. With its modernized control room, Pyrotech is ensuring safe and secure roads for general people safeguarding their lives and making their travels secured.

Paraphernalia (Support areas to control room):

A conference room also resides in the workspace used to hold meetings and conferences in dedicated spaces. This integrated conference room helps to conduct critical meetings without moving out of the control room facility; hence it improves the decision making and enhances the speed of implementation. While designing the facilities, various functional elements are kept in mind for the effectiveness of the services. For example, a line-of-sight measures the direct distance between two points that one has to travel. In a measure of field-of-vision, underlying sight disorder and visual fatigues are checked for accuracy in the control system.

Norms:

Similarly, other factors that concern human life with the functionality of public transport control room are considered, for instance, the permissible level of noise, ambient temperature, lightening in the control room, alarming system, quality of air, etc. according to the minimum requirements for the operator as per norms of ISO 11064. As per ISO 11064, the range of ambient noise is limited to 30-45 dB. By designing the interiors walls, surfaces and ceilings acoustically absorbing, the ideal noise range is achieved, reducing the noise of different distractions such as alarms, hooters, and other elements. Thus, levels of noise and echo are kept under permissible limits for proper vocal communication.

The light reflectance value (LRV) for the floor is kept at 0.2 and 0.3; for wall finishes, this value is 0.5 to 0.6, while for ceilings, it has to be 0.8 with matte finishing. The overall arrangement of the illumination is kept in such a way that it avoids glaring on the screen of the control panel. The ideal temperature to keep marinated in the control room according to ISO 11064 is 21° C so that both the apparatus and the operator can function properly. These data are considered standard parameters for an ergonomics control room interior to enhance the overall system performance. The cognitive elements are also taken care of to follow standards so that operator’s performance and abilities can be enhanced by providing an ergonomic interior and layout.
